The surface with Windows RT has finally become available and has turned out to be one solidly built device.  iFixit lets us have a look into what makes the Surface and its VaporMg material into an iPad-like quality experience.  Exposing the innards of the Surface is easier than an iPad, but still not for the faint of heart to attempt.  The good news is the batteries are fairly easy to replace and most of the internal components can be removed without de-soldering.
