The MacBook Pro family has been in need of a refresh for some time now and Apple has finally made available one impressive array of updates. To start with all MacBook Pros now come with an Intel Core i5 or i7 Sandy Bridge processor. You have a choice of up to 2.2Ghz with a burst or turbo mode of up to 3.4Ghz when needed. Gone are the NVIDIA graphics processors in favor of Intel integrated graphics and AMD HD graphics GPU’s for the 15 and 17 inch MacBook Pros. The 15 inch MacBook Pro now comes with only two options of Core i7 processors starting at 2.0Ghz and giving you the option of a 2.2Ghz Core i7 with an AMD Radeon 6750M graphics, and 750GB hard drive. Prices range from $1199 for the 13inch MacBook up to $2199 for the aforementioned 15-inch MacBook Pro. If you opt for the larger 17-inch model you get basically the same specs, but will be paying $2499 for the larger display.
Included in the MacBook Pro refresh are quite a number of other upgrades. The first of which many sites rumored for the past week of a technology called Thunderbolt. This is a Disk I/O that allows up to 10GB per second of transfer when you have a drive that is so equipped. Apple has turned the iSight or what is now referred to as the Facetime camera into a 720P HD image capturer to make your video calls more clear than ever. There are more updates as well so head on over to Apple to check them out.

The event is obviously an iPad event if you go just by the image on the invite, but you never really know what Apple is up to until the announcement. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with all the news coming from the event.
The smartphone that promises to be your computer in your pocket, the Atrix 4G is now available at Amazon. For just $149 you get an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor with each core running at 1GHz, a 4-inch display with a resolution of 960×540 and the ability to multi-task to your hearts content. The Atrix 4G comes equipped with Android 2.2 Froyo, includes a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording capability, wireless-N for Wifi, bluetooth, GPS, HDMI audio/video output, 16GB of internal storage with the ability to expand via microSD to 32GB. What the subsidized 2-year contract price of $149 does not get you is the extra laptop dock, or multimedia dock. Motorola claims a decent 9 hours of talk time and supports AT&T’s dual-band 850/1900 MHz 4G network (UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+).
Along with the cost of the phone you will need to pick up a data plan if you don’t have one already, but you knew that already. Be sure to check around for bundles that include the laptop dock or multimedia dock along with the Atrix.
As with most of the latest and greatest in the gadget world, iFixit has taken the time to show us what resides within the Verizon iPhone 4. The internals and disassembly process are much the same as the AT&T version of the iPhone. The external differences of the iPhone are obvious enough in that the antenna or outer ring of the phone has breaks in different locations. The SIM card slot is absent as you would expect since this is a Verizon phone. Internally the layout of the Verizon and AT&T iPhone look much the same, but of note is the motor that vibrates the phone has been revamped, providing a more quiet and soft feel as well as less noise on the table. Check out the link below to see the full teardown of Verizon’s iPhone.
Google has made available the upcoming Honeycomb or 3.0 version of Android via their SDK for those who develop for said platform. The final revision is not yet completed with all of its API’s and whatnot, but if you would like to get your hands on the SDK (software developer kit) to make ready your app for the upcoming Honeycomb then I would advise you head over to Android’s Developer site [Here]. There were a couple video previews of what Honeycomb would look like running on a tablet as Google has stated that it has urged Android device makers to hold off on tablets until the release of Android 3.0 was ready. For those of you who have not yet had the chance to see Honeycomb, follow the jump to check out the video of the Motorola Xoom (pictured above) in action.
