Prior to June 2008 and the release of the iPhone 3g, the iphone only had a 0.16 percent share of the operating system market.  The marketshare has been gaining ever since.

Now that it is September, the market share has grown 58 percent in 1 month to 0.3%.  According to Net Applications, this was due to the July launch of the iPhone 3G.  The reports are generated from data collected about which browser is being used to via sites across the internet.

We don’t expect the market share to grow to the whopping 90.66% that Windows currently has, but the iPhone has certainly proven there is a lot more use of the internet on the go.
