IBM has come up with a method to develop a 22nm chip, thus reducing power and size. IBM made the announcement today about its techniques and innovations to produce the chip. The process is not fully explained and probably due to pending patents, but their plan is to make the chip widely available for all.

 

IBM stated they want the chip to be implemented for devices "for cloud computing, laptops, game consoles, and cell phones."  IBM referenced their design idea had some influence from their majority hold on the "cell be" processor utilized in the PS3

 

Just when we thought 45nm was the big deal, here come less heat and even smaller devices.
