Remember when you thought that Apple selling about a Billion apps in one year was a lot?  Well the bar has been raised slightly.  Since the September 28th milestone of 1 Billion apps, Apple has now sold 3 Billion apps total.  Yes, you read correctly, 3 Billion apps.  There are only about 6 Billion people in the world and we know half the world does not have an iPhone yet, so how many apps a day do you download?  Statistically speaking though, to download 2 Billion apps in just 98 days means 30,612,244 apps per day, 1,275,510 per hour, 121,043 per minute, 350 every second. Apple’s App Store Downloads Top Three Billion

CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Apple® today announced that more than three billion apps have been downloaded from its revolutionary App Store by iPhone® and iPod touch® users worldwide.

"Three billion applications downloaded in less than 18 months-this is like nothing we’ve ever seen before," said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. "The revolutionary App Store offers iPhone and iPod touch users an experience unlike anything else available on other mobile devices, and we see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon."

Imagine the bandwidth bill Apple is fronting for all of this downloading.  It appears that 30% profit they make on apps is being put to good use.
