Final Cut Express and Quicktime Updated

  Apple released the Final Cut Express 4.0.1 update for owners to download.  The update addresses compatibility issues with AVCHD camcorders, improves stability when using third-party FxPlug plug-ins, and addresses a number of other minor issues and is available via software update. Quicktime was also updated when they released the ProRes QuickTime Decoder 1.0.  This is a new piece of software that allows users to play Apple ProRes files through QuickTime.

Jaiku Showing Signs of Life Again

  Jaiku the twitter-like application that was scooped up by Google last fall has been a bit dormant unless you already had an account.  The application is now ready for use with its google overhaul and is now allowing its existing users to send out invites again.  Jaiku also has a new privacy and terms of service agreement, getting its legal aspects in order until it goes full throttle. Android App Store on The Way

  Today Google announced that they too are going the route of an app store to deliver content to Android users.  In an attempt to make an open source operating system that rivals Apple’s iPhone, Android is going all out to try and take the lead.  "Similar to YouTube, content can debut in the marketplace after only three simple steps: register as a merchant, upload and describe your content and publish it," Chu said.

Vimpelcom to Provide Russia With iPhone 3G

  The 2nd largest carrier in Russia is Vimpelcom.  They will be providing the people of RUssia with access to the 3G iPhone  at a quite expensive $1000 with possible installment plans starting at $200.  "Thursday’s news comes after Apple launched the iPhone 3G in nearly two dozen markets on Tuesday. Some of the countries to receive the iPhone were Romania, Philippines, Hungary, Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland, and India, among others."
