  Apple shows us the iPad.  Details a bit sparse right now, but we have a name finally.

Update:  The device can use all apps from the app store using native resolution or pixel doubling.  The screen is 9.7inch ips display and has a capacitive touch screen.  The processor is a 1Ghz Apple A4 processor with the availability of 16gb,32gb and 64gb of internal storage.  It also has 102.11n Wifi with Bluetooth and 10 Hours of battery life.  All of this in a 1/2inch device.

Online Overseas Wholesale Site Showing Tablet Prematurely WIth Specs And Details?

  On doing a little research via the B2B (business to business) site Alibaba.com, it appears they may have outed the tablet early.  There are numerous sellers now selling the iSlate as a new product on the site.  The distributors are reputable and all show the same image of what looks to be a 7.1inch tablet.  The image looks similar to what we have seen with an iPhone form factor.  The design if accurate also has the home button, and a couple of touch scroll arrows on the face.  The side and/or top shows two usb ports and a headphone jack.

DirecTV Launching New 3dHD Channel

  DIrecTV will soon be making an announcement regarding a whole new way to watch broadcast TV, in 3D.  The current lineup of Satellite Receievers the company makes available to its customers will support the new channel with a simple firmware upgrade.  The downside to this whole 3D push is that the channel will require you to purchase a new 3D capable TV.  There aren’t any details at this time, but we should head something more from CES on January 7th.

iPhone 3.0-Beta 4 & iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release Is Now Available For Devs

 

  If you have paid your $99 and have access to the development kit for iPhone, then you can now get the most recent update.  The iPhone SDK 3.0-Beta 4 and iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release are now available.  While we do not have a lot of details regarding the updates, we do know that in order to activate the iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 firmware you must already have iTunes 8.2 installed.  We will be sure to update you of any significant changes should they come our way.

 "One forum poster points out that the latest iTunes 8.2 beta carries references to Blu-Ray data from Gracenote, suggesting that iTunes could support the reading/recognizing of Blu-Ray discs. This note is not present in the current version of iTunes"

Apple Seeds iPhone 3.0 Beta 3 To Developers

 

  As we continually grow closer and closer to the summer release of iPhone 3.0 to the public, Apple continues to update and fix the Beta to ready it for mass consumption.  Today was seeded the iPhone 3.0 Beta 3 Firmware.  Although there are no major changes noted, there are a few.

 

"Apple has this evening released beta 3 (build 7A280f) of iPhone OS 3.0 due for release in the Summer.
Of note in the latest seed is that Apple advises developers, "Applications targeting devices prior to iPhone OS 3.0 beta cannot be tested in this seed. This bug is intended to be fixed in a future seed."
Changes to the iPhone OS 3.0 beta 3 will not become apparent at first."

Video Recording Interface Found In 3.0 Show New Features For Upcoming iPhone

 

  A developer was messing around with some configuration files which fooled the 3.0 beta software for iPhone to think a video camera was present.  As we and others have posted, we have a pretty firm confirmation that video will be an option in the next iPhone.  The screenshot shows a switch between still or video capture and has an "auto-focus camera", "magnetometer" (digital compass), and "Voice Control".

 

This summer should show the release of the final 3.0 firmware along with new version(s) of hardware.

Apple Releases iTunes 8.0.2 Before Release of iPhone 2.2

 

  Apple tonight has released iTunes 8.0.2 as an update prior to the upcoming 2.2 iPhone firmware.  The update says the following:

 

iTunes 8.0.2 improves stability and performance and provides a number of important bug fixes, including:

• Addresses a quality issue creating MP3s on some computers.
• Fixes a connectivity issue with the iTunes Store when using some Internet proxies with Mac OS X.
• Improves accessibility with VoiceOver.

 

You can get it now via software update.
