Apple Invites Go Out For January 27th Event: The Rumors Are True

  The speculation and rumors of an end of the month Apple event are indeed true.  People are receiving an invite for the 27th of January with the tag line "come see our latest creation."  The place is the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theatre in San Francisco.  The event will start at 10AM Pacific and judging by the tag line and art splotches we are guessing this is for a tablet of some sort.

DirecTV Launching New 3dHD Channel

  DIrecTV will soon be making an announcement regarding a whole new way to watch broadcast TV, in 3D.  The current lineup of Satellite Receievers the company makes available to its customers will support the new channel with a simple firmware upgrade.  The downside to this whole 3D push is that the channel will require you to purchase a new 3D capable TV.  There aren’t any details at this time, but we should head something more from CES on January 7th.

Microsoft Office Barred From Sale After January 11th, 2010

  Who would have thought that after all the years of Microsoft Office that it would be banned from sale due to patent infringement.  After a ruling back in May for the same issue, Microsoft appealed and this time lost.  The infringement i for Word’s handling of .xml, .docx, and .docm files of which infringed upon i4i’s patented XML handling algorithms.

Palm Ares SDK Goes Live, In Beta Form

  Palm’s WebOS is having a bit of a rough time gaining momentum with their app store.  Well the new Ares SDK is now here in beta form and for us non-programmers.  You can use the online application to create a WebOS based app without any external tools.  The interface is simple with drag and drop controls.  Try it out for yourself and get building.  You can still use the software based Mojo SDK, but why not give it a shot here first.

Apple Launches iTunes Movie Bundles

  Apple today has launched new movie bundles in iTunes.  You can now buy a couple or even three movies for one price.  For example, you can get the digital copies of The Godfather part one and two for $14.99.  There are other bundles for less and then there are also some triple bundles for $19.99 and up. It might be time to search the bargain bin of iTunes and finally get some deals when it comes to digital distribution.
