Google Gears 0.4 was just released. This is an update to the current project from Google which allows you to use applications normally accessible from the "cloud", directly on your desktop without a connection. The application makes Google’s online service such as Google Documents function without having to connect to the internet.

Microsoft has had its ups and down with the Xbox in Japan. For the first time the Xbox has been selling better than the PS3. The trend started in August and Microsoft wants to keep the sales in Japan going strong. Traditionally it has been very difficult for an American game console to take hold in Japan and the Xbox 360 has so far continues to prove this correct.

There have been rumors for some time about the possibility of the release of a game controller add on for the iPhone and iPod Touch. An add on would give the lacking analog stick(s) that some games need to provide a great experience. Toucharcade has posted a picture it recieved of the Belkin Joypod. The joypod encompasses the iPod/iPhone with an analog stick on the left and 4 buttons on the right, not unlike the Sony PSP.

A patent has been awarded to Microsoft for the page up and page down key function on your keyboard. The Patent was granted on August 19, 2008 and has been waiting since 2005. The patent number 7,415,666, documents the working and use of the functions of page up and page down and shows an old IBM keyboard for reference.
